Krewe of Badonkadonk, Mudd Mistress and more roll in Chumuckla Redneck Christmas Parade (photos)
CHUMUCKLA, Florida -- Despite a forecast that called for more rain than reindeer, thousands still found their way to the tiny community of Chumuckla for the town's 19th annual Redneck Christmas Parade Saturday. A shower passed through the area about an hour before the 1 p.m. start of the parade, but otherwise attendees stayed dry and festive for the annual celebration of rednecks and the birth of Christ. "I had friends who were supposed to be in the parade," said Matthew Crouthers of Pensacola. "They canceled because of the 80 percent chance of rain, but the rest of us are out here having a great time."The people who did participate in the parade rolled through on cars, trucks, and horses or on floats pulled by one of the above. Santa rode through on the first float, an Allentown fire truck, followed by several impersonators wearing all manner of camouflage, cowboy hats and other redneck gear. The parade was noticeably shorter than last year, when BonfireJam added rodeo events and performances by country music stars Jana Kramer, Gretchen Wilson and Clay Walker to the parade weekend schedule.
